Kevin Rambke, your instructor at Hoarding Cleanup Class, is a third-generation restoration contractor with more than 40 years of hands-on field experience in restoration, emergency services, construction, and hoarding cleanup, and offers courses through IICRC-approved training schools.
Hello, and thank you for visiting our site. I am a third-generation restoration contractor with a lifelong background in restoration, construction, environmental contamination, and specialty cleanup services. Restoration work has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
My grandfather started the family business in the 1950s and 1960s as a construction and janitorial company. During the 1970s and 1980s, my father expanded the business into restoration and construction services, and by the 1980s and 1990s, my sister and I were already working in the field helping grow the company into emergency services.
I started carpet cleaning and water extraction work when I was around 15 years old. My dad had us climbing roofs, inspecting damage, loading equipment, and doing pack-outs while we were still in high school. We learned the business from the ground up — not from a classroom, but from job sites, long nights, emergency calls, and real-world situations.
Over the years, we handled water and fire damage restoration, trauma scene cleanup, hoarding cleanup, mold remediation, drug lab cleanup, carpet and upholstery cleaning, smoke-damaged textile cleaning, construction, and janitorial services. I have personally worked on difficult hoarding environments, trauma scenes, contaminated properties, and emergency cleanup situations for decades.
I became involved with hoarding environments in the mid-1990s, long before most people were openly talking about hoarding disorder or the unique environmental and safety hazards involved. Today, I professionally teach hoarding cleanup and specialty environmental cleanup courses, focusing heavily on practical field experience, worker safety, biological hazards, and real-world jobsite situations.
After the family business was sold in the early 2000s, I began international consulting work. Today, I divide my time between California and Taiwan consulting on mold contamination, emergency containment systems, specialty cleanup procedures, and environmental hazard assessment.
I am a California Licensed General Contractor, Certified Home Inspector, and hold multiple IICRC and OSHA certifications.
Even after decades in the industry, I still feel more comfortable wearing PPE on a job site than standing in front of a camera. But I genuinely enjoy teaching and sharing practical experience from years in the field. I also know that no two hoarding jobs are ever the same, and many of the best lessons come from the people attending these classes and sharing their own experiences. We all continue learning together.
Thanks for visiting the site, and I hope some of the information here helps you in your own restoration journey.
